MAMOU -- Landa Richard of 1072 Sam Lake Rd, Mamou, was recently charged with multiple counts of cruelty to animals after three miniature horses were found dead on her property from apparent neglect and starvation.

At the City of Ville Platte’s council meeting on Tuesday, Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine, for the first time, publicly addressed the Department of Justice’s report citing the Ville Platte Police Department for performing illegal “investigative holds.”

Although the Mayor’s and council members’ reactions to the Justice Department report on the misconduct of the police department generated the most interest, the Ville Platte City Council also disposed of several other business items at its January meeting.
