Who’s Gettin’ Married: Ten couples receive marriage licenses in month of November

Employee and Resident of the Month announced

Francesca Gallow was named Employee of the Month for December at Heritage Manor, and Carenia Fontenot was named Resident of the Month. Gallow has been employed with the facility for 12 years as a CNA in the dementia unit. She is the mother of three.

Residents enjoy VFW party

Residents of Heritage Manor enjoyed pizza, boudin and desserts from the Ladies Auxiliary and VFW members during the VFW Christmas party held December 6.

Magnolia Garden Club holds Christmas social

The Magnolia Garden Club met at the home of Hazel Fontenot on Monday, December 8, to celebrate the club’s Christmas social.

Catholic Daughters enjoy Christmas activities

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held its Christmas social Wednesday, December 3, at the Sacred Heart meeting room. Each member brought food items for the court’s food baskets and toys for needy children.

Arvie retires from KBR

Carlton Arvie Jr., the third son of 11 children of the late Carlton Arvie Sr. and Irene (Fontenot) Arvie, recently retired from KBR after a 45-year career as a certified welder. While growing up in Chataignier, he attended Carver Elementary School and James Stephens High School.

Appreciation dinner held

Heritage Manor recently hosted an appreciation dinner for VFW Post #3803 and the Ladies’ Auxiliary to thank them for their faithful support of the facility and its residents through bingo games and monthly resident barbecues. Shown, seated in front from left, are Celia Ardoin and Mr. and Mrs.

Apostle Laura Reese celebrates 25 years of ministry

Apostle Laura Reese is the founder and Pastor of Greater Faith Ministries of Lake Charles since 1989. She has traveled to 41 states and 29 countries, such as the Middle East, Jerusalem, Jericho, Nazareth, Tel Aviv, Bethany, Capernaum, Magdala, South Africa, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.

VFW Post #3803 recently hosted its monthly resident barbecue meal for the residents of Heritage Manor Nursing Home. The meat was donated by Gregory Vidrine, third from left.

Evangeline Central students create nativity scene

The Evangeline Central JAG career association completed their service learning/community service component in the JAG curriculum with a life-size Nativity scene for the City of Ville Platte.
