Running to victory

SCHRIEVER – The Houma Christian Warriors had its home opener ruined by a powerful Sacred Heart rushing attack in 49-21 non-district loss Thursday night at Warrior Field.
The Trojans deployed the counter trap play to gash the Warriors defense for 390 yards en route to the rout.

Ville Platte High takes one on the chin from LCA

VILLE PLATTE -- Former Ville Platte signal caller Derek Landry celebrated his homecoming in style Friday evening. As head coach of Lafayette Christian Academy, he led his Knights to a 36-6 victory over the Bulldogs.

Oberlin blows past Mamou 36-6

MAMOU -- In a non-district game, the Oberlin Tigers scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to burst past the Mamou Demons in a 36-12 win. Mamou drops to 0-3 on the year, while Oberlin moves to 1-2 on the season.

Panthers earn first victory of season

PINE PRAIRIE -- Pearl River with a record of 2­-0 meandered from the banks of the river bearing the samename, to the banks of Bayou Nezpique for a matchup against the 0­-2 Panthers.

Bearcats run past Tarpons 29-6; remain undefeated

CREOLE -- The Basile Bearcats used a potent running game to subdue the South Cameron Tarpons 29-7 Thursday night.
With the win, Basile improves to 3-0 on the season and will face Logansport next Friday in Basile. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Improving each game

For the Sacred Heart Trojans, the focus of the last two weeks of the regular season has been to continue improving before they head into the long district season ahead.

Coming off of a big win over Ville Platte, the 2-0 Basile Bearcats will travel to South Cameron on Thursday night hoping to remain undefeated on the season. Game time in Creole is set for 7 p.m.

Panthers to open up offense even more against Rebels

The Pine Prairie Panthers will be looking for their first win of the 2015 season as they host the Pearl River Rebels Friday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
