VFW donates monthly barbecue for residents of Heritage Manor

VFW Post #3803 donated its monthly barbecue meal for residents of Heritage Manor on June 11. The meat for the barbecue was generously donated by Tony Dupre and Kathy Meyers.

Jackson hosts resident bingo game

Betsy Jackson recently hosted a resident bingo game at Heritage Manor and also gave out prizes to the winners. Everyone was very grateful and enjoyed the game.

Most active father named

Andrus Chapman, 91 years old, was named Most Active Father at Heritage Manor for Father’s Day. He has one son and one grandchild. He is very active both in and out of the facility. He is currently the Heritage Manor king and enjoys competing in the Senior Olympics.

Smoked Meat Festival royalty crowned Sunday evening

The 22nd Annual Viande Boucanée Pageant was held Sunday, June 22, 2014, at the Northside Civic Center. Three new queens were selected to represent the festival, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #632 and the City of Ville Platte for the next year.

Magnolia Garden Club presents awards

The Garden of the Month and Civic Pride Award of Merit for June was selected by a committee from the Magnolia Garden Club. The recipient of the Garden of the Month honor was the home of Robert and Karen Perron, and the Civic Pride Award was presented to Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Thomas celebrate golden anniversary

Elwood and Dorothy Thomas celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 31, 2014. The couple was married on May 31,1964. Their family enjoyed an evening at Soileau’s Dinner Club in Opelousas.

Employee and Resident of the Month announced

Cathy Guillory was named Employee of the Month for June at Heritage Manor, and Sue Guillory was named Resident of the Month. Cathy, a mother of two, has been employed with Heritage Manor for 21 years as an evening shift CNA. Sue has been a resident of the facility for 12 years.

Pine Prairie School announces honor roll list for sixth six-weeks

Pine Prairie School recently announced its honor students for the sixth six-weeks.
