Lady Trojans advance in thrilling fashion

A match-up that looked to be a thrilling showdown on paper did not disappoint the fans that came out to see the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the St. Ed’s Lady Blue Jays clash in a regional playoff game Wednesday at Lady Trojan field.

Lady Panthers knocked out of playoffs with loss

Going into the regional round of the playoffs, the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers knew it would be a tough match-up against the number three seeded Kaplan Lady Pirates. After all, the Lady Panthers start six sophomores.

Trojans seal district championship with wins

Wins in the last two ball games against St. Ed’s and Catholic of Pointe Coupee have propelled the Sacred Heart Trojans to the district 5-1A championship. The Trojans went through league play with a perfect 6-0 record.

Panthers garner two important district wins

The Pine Prairie Panthers added two more district wins this past week, defeating Church Point 7-2 and Ville Platte 8-6. With the two wins the Panthers push their overall record to 15-8 and their district 5-3A record to 6-2.

Sacred Heart competes at district track meet

The Sacred Heart boy’s and girl’s track teams competed at the recently held district 5-1A track meet on Monday in Eunice. Both squads faired well, each team placed fourth overall. Here are the individual performances at that meet

Lady Demons bow out of LHSAA playoffs

The Mamou Lady Demons knew one detail all too well when they took the field on Monday in the first round of the 2015 LHSAA softball playoffs: their opponent, Kinder. The Lady Jackets and the Lady Demons both reside in district 4-2A and have faced each other four times in the last two years.

Lady Trojans take first round playoff game

The Lady Trojans opened the playoffs with a win against Highland Baptist Monday nightbehind three perfectly pitched innings from Elizabeth Soileau. “The game was very well played,” said coach Patrick Richey. “Our whole season has been well played this year.

Trojans remain perfect in district with win

The Sacred Heart Trojans moved one step closer to the district championship with a win 6-2 over the St. Ed’s Blue Jays on Monday at Aswell-Cappell field. The Trojans are now 22-3 on the season and more importantly are 4-0 in district competition.

Ville Platte High sweeps parish track meet

The Ville Platte High Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were crowned Evangeline Parish track and field champions last Wednesday. The meet was held at Basile High School. Due to the recent rain event, several of the field events were not contested, due to the conditions of the fields and jumping pits.

Lady Panthers advance to regional round

Usually when a team comes into the playoffs as a number 19 seed, that team is thought of as a middle of the road type of softball squad. Tell that to the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers and they would strongly disagree.
