Man of the Year, Jesse Muse, volunteered to design and build the Evangeline Parish Library’s newest Little Free Library for placement on the grounds of the new library location in Ville Platte.

The Ville Platte Rotary Club, Sacred Heart Rotary Interact Club and Sacred Heart School thank everyone who donated and participated in the Rotary International Project to aid the Kobonal Mission Catholic School in Haiti.

Troupe d’Evangeline Community Theatre is happy to announce that a new show for the kids of our community has been chosen! They will be performing "Princess and the Pea." This play has many roles for boys, girls and adults, with both small and large parts.

The Evangeline Parish 4-H Program and the LSU AgCenter sponsored two educational programs for the youth to learn safe and responsible use of firearms, archery and related equipment.

Several residents, staff and volunteers enjoyed a special Mother’s Day trip to the Grand Theatre in Alexandria.

Riley Shea Sylvester, the daughter of Corey and Nikki Sylvester of Ville Platte, celebrated her third birthday Saturday, May 3, 2014, with a party at the Chicot State Park splash pad.

The Magnolia Garden Club met at the home of Paula Landreneau on Monday, May 12, for the annual spring social, which was hosted by Landreneau and Lola Fontenot. Special guests for the occasion were Ethel Landreneau and Ann Jones from the Washington Garden Club.

The Garden of the Month and Civic Pride Award of Merit for May was selected by a committee from the Magnolia Garden Club. The recipient of the Garden of the Month honor was the home of Mark and Annette Fontenot, and the Civic Pride Award was presented to Bella Salon and Spa.
