Spring is here and bright-colored flowers are blooming in yards. A committee from the Magnolia Garden Club recently chose the residential yard and business civic pride award for the month of April.

Ville Platte Elementary School placed first overall at the recent Evangeline Parish Fitness Meet. Three students, Jerez Edwards, Kaydan Coward and Lanaiya Thomas, will be competing in Baton Rouge on May 3.

On Friday, April 4, students at Ville Platte Elementary School wrote notes to express their prayers and concerns for the I Leap and Leap testing they would be taking the following week. Students had been preparing and studying hard for the important tests.

Torian Paige Veillon, the 17-year-old daughter of Kevin and Dalayne Veillon of Ville Platte, was crowned Saturday afternoon, April 5, as Boggy Bayou’s 30th queen. The annual pageant was held during the 30th Annual Boggy Bayou Festival at the fairgrounds April 3-5.
