Parish hoopsters reap post-season awards

Saturday was the final night of the boy’s Top 28 basketball tournament. This means that the 2014-2015 basketball season is officially finished. With that comes the doling out of post-season honors for the players who have excelled on the court this year.

Trojans earn win over Breaux Bridge at ULL

The Sacred Heart Trojan baseball team received a tremendous opportunity to play a game at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette baseball complex. The Trojans faced off against a formidable class 4A opponent, the Breaux Bridge Tigers.

Lady Trojans take doubleheader from Pitkin

The Sacred Heart Lady Trojan softball team took on the Pitkin Lady Tigers in a Tuesday doubleheader. The Lady Trojans used a combination of timely hitting and great pitching to earn wins of 9-5 and 3-2. With the two wins, Sacred Heart moves to 5-2 on the season.

Trojans successful in Kaplan Tournament

The Sacred Heart Trojans traveled to Kaplan on Friday and Saturday to participate in the Pirate baseball tournament. The Trojans had a successful outing, winning two out of the three games. With the wins, Sacred Heart is now 7-2 on the year.

Demons drop three games at Barbe Tourney

The Mamou Demons traveled to Lake Charles this past weekend to participate in the Barbe Buccaneer Tournament. The Demons faced off against some very tough competition and came away with a 0-3 record. Mamou is now 1-3 on the season. Here is a summary of the games played in the tourney.

Lady Demons lose two in Bunkie Tournament

A trip to Bunkie to participate in the Lady Panther Tournament was on tap for the Mamou Lady Demon softball team this past weekend. The Lady Demons took on the Pineville Lady Rebels and the Jena Lady Giants, losing both games. With the two losses Mamou is now 0-4 on the season.

Panthers take two wins at DeQuincy Tourney

The Pine Prairie Panther baseball team took to the diamond to participate in the DeQuincy tournament over this past weekend. The Panthers played three games in the tourney, winning two out of three games. Pine Prairie is now 3-4 on the season.

Lady Panthers go one for three this weekend

The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers took part in the Bunkie Tournament this past weekend and took on some very formidable opponents. The Lady Panthers were able to earn a win out of the three games played to run their record to 3-2 on the season. Here are the results of those games.

Trojans slip past Panthers in diamond play

On Tuesday, the Sacred Heart Trojans and the Pine Prairie Panthers were able to squeeze in a game on the diamond, despite the wet wintery weather all of Louisiana has felt over the past week. Neither team was able to produce much offensively, as the Trojans slid past the Panthers 2-1.

Lady Demons lose close contest to St. Ed’s

The Mamou Lady Demon softball team traveled to Eunice on Thursday to take on the St. Edmund Lady Blue Jays. Mamou took the early lead in the third inning, but could not sustain that lead. St. Ed’s scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 4-­2 win.
