The Sacred Heart Trojans and the Mamou Demons got some tournament playing time this weekend, despite the weather. The Trojans traveled to Oak Hill and the Demons were in Kinder to participate in their respective tournaments. Here is a rundown of the games played by Sacred Heart and Mamou.

The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers traveled to Shreveport on Saturday to participate in the Northwood-Shreveport softball tournament. The Lady Panthers battled frigid temperatures and snow and ice to pick up two wins on the day. Here is a summary of both contests.

Just like your favorite ride at an amusement park, the regional playoff game between Ville Platte and Iota came with all of the thrills one could expect. The battle between the two Lady Bulldog teams was a back and forth, up and down, gut wrenching contest.

Ville Platte High came into the bi-district round of the playoffs on a six-game win streak. The Bulldogs hoped to carry that momentum on the road as they faced off against Madison High Friday night.

Out of all the teams that Pine Prairie could have faced in the first round of the playoffs, the Bossier Bearkats were probably not on the top of the Panther wish list. Since 2009, the Bearkats had been to the Top 28 six years in a row, even winning the state title in 2011.

In one of the few games able to be played around the area due to weather conditions, the Sacred Heart Trojans picked up their first baseball win of the season. The Trojans used a six-run first inning to propel themselves to a 12-2 win over the Marksville Tigers.

On Monday, the LHSAA released the playoff brackets for the 2015 post-season. Among the teams that will be vying for a chance at the state championship are two Evangeline Parish Schools, the Ville Platte High Bulldogs and the Pine Prairie Panthers.

The 2015 baseball season gets under way this week for four parish schools. Sacred Heart, Ville Platte, Mamou and Pine Prairie have all been working really hard this off season in preparation for this year’s diamond play.
