BATON ROUGE — New research shows that in Louisiana, 723,077 households – fully 42 percent – struggled to afford basic household necessities in 2014, according to the United Way ALICE Report for Louisiana released Thursday by the Louisiana Association of United Ways.

Jury finds Jack guilty of resisting an officer

On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, an Evangeline Parish jury found Anthony K. Jack guilty of resisting an officer through use of force or violence and aggravated battery.

EPSO Arrest Reports

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported 15 recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons:
• Larry McBride, 37, 1528 Oak St., Pine Prairie, was arrested on March 10, 2017 for failure to appear. McBride was released from jail on a $4,000.00 bond.

Early voting runs April 15-22

Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters, Lucas Buller, has announced that early voting for the April 29, 2017 election will begin Saturday, April 15th and continue through Saturday, April 22nd excluding Sunday, April 16th.

VPPD Arrest Reports

The Ville Platte Police Department reported recent bookings into the city jail. Arrested were the following persons:
• Landry Roberts, 30, 111 W. Hickory, Ville Platte, was arrested on March 31, 2017, for Remaining After Forbidden and is out on a $500.00 bond.
