Even with one district game left, the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs have once again captured the district 5-3A championship. The Lady Bulldogs earned the title with a 64-25 win over the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers on Friday night.

Coming into the game Friday night, the Mamou Green Demons were two games out of first place in district 4-2A. Holding the lead position were the Welsh Greyhounds, which just so happened to be the Demon’s Friday night opponent.

The Mamou Lady Demons hosted the Welsh Lady Greyhounds Friday night with the hopes of staying in the district title hunt. Mamou came into the contest only one game behind league leader Lake Arthur High School.

Coming into Tuesday’s game against the Port Barre Lady Red Devils, the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs were eying another district win to remain undefeated in league play. The last time these two teams squared off, the Lady Bulldogs collected a 29 point win.

The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans travelled to New Roads on Tuesday to take on Catholic of Pointe Coupee. Sacred Heart was seeking to improve their playoff power ranking before the regular season closes.

Chris Guillory talked before the game about the basketball landscape in Class 3-A. To paraphrase, he said… The past couple of years we’ve gone from Class B to 2-A to 3-A.

Deflategate made its way from New England to Pine Prairie as the Lady Panthers hosted the Church Point Lady Bears Tuesday night. After the first quarter with the score tied at 11, the pressure in the game ball was checked to see if it was properly inflated.

On Friday night, the district 5-1A season continued in Ville Platte as the Sacred Heart Trojans and Lady Trojans hosted False River Academy. The Lady Trojans scored off of the opening tip and never relinquished the lead in a 48-30 win over the Lady Gators.

The Ville Platte High Lady Bulldogs have not lost a district game in a very long time. That dominance continued on Friday as the Lady Bulldogs had no trouble in a 62-39 win over the Northwest Lady Raiders.

The Kinder Lady Jackets traveled to Big Mamou to take on the Lady Demons. Mamou won the battle by a final score of 64-36.
