Ms. Lisa Deshotel Catorie of Mamou celebrated her 97th birthday on Thursday, December 19, 2013, with five generations of her family by her side. She is the mother of Reston and Derryl Deshotel of Mamou and the late Ferryl and Rodney Deshotel.

Residents and staff of Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte celebrated Christmas with a Christmas party Thursday, December 19. Many family members and friends attended to celebrate and share gifts with the residents.

On Wednesday, December 11, the cast and crew of Troupe d’Evangeline’s production of “The Toys Take Over Christmas” held a final dress rehearsal for their debut performance Thursday, December 12, at the Northside Civic Center.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held its Christmas social Wednesday, December 4, at the Our Lady Queen of All Saints Family Life Center.

Turkey Creek’s Third Annual Christmas in the Village celebration is set for Saturday, December 14, at Drouet Park.

The November 12, meeting of the Magnolia Garden Club was hosted by Joyce Coreil. President Hazel Fontenot presided over the meeting. Member Theresa Reed was able to attend the meeting after an illness, and her daughter Sally, was her guest.

Herbert Jason was named Employee of the Month for December at Heritage Manor, and Earleen Fontenot was named Resident of the Month. Jason is in charge of transportation and enjoys going on outings with the residents. He has been employed with Heritage Manor for over 24 years.
