Both the Sacred Heart Trojans and the Lady Trojans travelled to False River Tuesday night in district play. The Trojans played a tremendous defensive game in gaining a 47-31 win. The Lady Trojans rode a 10 point half time lead to a 62-58 victory.

Wins on Saturday and Tuesday by Ville Platte High move the Lady Bulldogs to 18-4 on the season and 2-0 in district. Here is a rundown of the last two games played by Ville Platte High.

On Saturday afternoon, the Ville Platte Bulldogs hosted one of the top teams in the state regardless of class. The Baton Rouge based Madison Prep Chargers came into the non-district contest against Ville Platte as the number one team in the class 1A power ratings.

In order to win a district championship and gain a spot in the playoffs, a win in the first district game is almost a must. Having won the last several district titles, the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs know this fact all too well.

Going into their first district game on Friday, the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans knew that it would be a tall task to gain a victory. After all they were playing the defending class 1A state runners-up and the current number one team in the state power point rankings.

The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers played basketball Friday night against the Livonia Lady Wildcats. The Lady Panthers were looking to start district play on the right path, but the Wildcats defense was too much for Pine Prairie.

Going into their non-district game against class 3A Jennings High School, the Mamou Green Demons had only reached the 70 point mark once all season long. The Demons looked to improve on the offensive side against the Bulldogs to earn their sixth victory of the year.

From the opening tip, the Sacred Heart Trojans looked like a team on a mission Tuesday night against the Church Point Bears. Sacred Heart held a one point lead at the end of the first quarter.

A valiant comeback effort fell just short for the Lady Trojans, as they faced off against the Lady Bears of Church Point Tuesday night. Down by 10 points at the start of the final quarter, Sacred Heart tied the game at 47-47, only to come up short in a 54-51 loss.

The Mamou Green Demons played the basketball game Tuesday night against Pine Prairie looking like Mardi Gras riders without a captain. They knew what they had to do but were missing that leader waive the flag getting them where they needed to go. Thus they fell by a score of 76-53.
