Sherina Gallow, first photo with Activity Director Patricia Duplechin, was named Employee of the Month for October at Heritage Manor, and Bobbie McCauley, second photo, was named Resident of the Month.

Tyner Gage Fontenot, the son of Michael Scott Fontenot and Amanda Ortego of St. Landry, celebrated his first birthday with a party at his dad's house Wednesday, October 16, 2013. The party theme was "Mickey Mouse." Grandparents are Michael and Trish Fontenot of St. Landry.

The dietary staff of Savoy Medical Center in Mamou celebrated Food Service Week and Boss’s Day the week of October 7-11.

The Garden of the Month and Civic Pride Award of Merit for the month of September were selected by a committee from the Magnolia Garden Club.

The 4-H “Cotton Pickin’ Pet Show” was held on Wednesday, October 19, at the Ville Platte Civic Center. There were more than 80 pets entered in the show this year.

Catholic Daughter members Jesslyn Foret and Mary Ann Duos both joined the Catholic Daughters on February 24, 1963, and recently marked their 50th anniversary by receiving the special pins from Regent Barbara Delafosse.

Mamou Elementary School recently announced its honor students for the first six-weeks.

KINDERGARTEN:

The 2013 4-H Cotton Food Festival got off to a great start at the 19th Annual Cotton Festival 4-H Cotton Commodity Cookery Contest held Wednesday, October 9, at the Ville Platte Civic Center.

The 60th annual Queen Cotton Pageant was held Saturday afternoon, October 12, in conjunction with the Cotton Festival.

VFW Post #3803 and CenturyLink recently donated and cooked a delicious barbecue meal for the residents of Heritage Manor. They are very grateful for the treat.
