Tyner Gage Fontenot, the son of Michael Scott Fontenot and Amanda Ortego of St. Landry, celebrated his first birthday with a party at his dad's house Wednesday, October 16, 2013. The party theme was "Mickey Mouse." Grandparents are Michael and Trish Fontenot of St. Landry.

The 4-H “Cotton Pickin’ Pet Show” was held on Wednesday, October 19, at the Ville Platte Civic Center. There were more than 80 pets entered in the show this year.

The 2013 4-H Cotton Food Festival got off to a great start at the 19th Annual Cotton Festival 4-H Cotton Commodity Cookery Contest held Wednesday, October 9, at the Ville Platte Civic Center.

The 60th annual Queen Cotton Pageant was held Saturday afternoon, October 12, in conjunction with the Cotton Festival.

VFW donates monthly barbecue

VFW Post #3803 and CenturyLink recently donated and cooked a delicious barbecue meal for the residents of Heritage Manor. They are very grateful for the treat.
