The Pine Prairie Panthers knew going into the game against the number-two ranked Livonia Wildcats that it would be an uphill climb both ways to pull off the upset.

For the Mamou Demons, a second win would go a long way salvaging a rebuilding season. The Demons lost to the Vinton Lions this past Friday by a score of 40-12. Mamou is now 1-7 on the year and will host the Lake Arthur Tigers on Thursday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Ville Platte High came into this district game Friday night like giants after beating division foes Port Barre and Pine Prairie in consecutive weeks. Livonia came into the game as royals of Class 2A. The Wildcats are state runners-up from a year ago and are ranked first in the current polls.

Raiders edge Panthers in key district matchup

Pine Prairie and Northwest came into the game Friday night with both teams needing a district win. However, the victory went to Northwest Raiders with a final score 12-6.
