The Sacred Heart Trojans and the Pine Prairie Panthers both come into this contest with a 2-2 record. Both teams have defeated Mamou and both teams have played two games on the road. This is where the similarities between the teams end.

The Basile Bearcats have won four games in a row, with the offense being up and down throughout the course of every game. The one part of Basile’s football squad that has really played consistently all year has been the defense.

The Mamou Green Demons will travel Thursday to take on the Montgomery Tigers. The Demons are 1-3 on the season after losing to Sacred Heart on Friday. Mamou has played hard all season long; there is no doubt about that.

In the foyer of Sacred Heart High School there is a sign that reads “Through these halls walk the finest people in the world… Our students.” Many returned to the Halls of Troy Friday for homecoming as they saw a new queen, Elizabeth Soileau, crowned.

The Bulldogs traveled the short distance Friday night to battle the Oakdale Warriors. The Bulldogs would fall short by a final score 14-0. The trip may have been short, but the night was long for Ville Platte. The Bulldogs’ offense never pulled it together, only gaining a total of 15 yards.

To say that the Basile defense was dominating Friday night would be an understatement. The Bearcats held the Merryville Panthers to a meager 23 yards of total offense and an amazing one first down en route to a 29-8 victory. The win raises Basile’s record to a perfect 4-0 on the season.

The Pine Prairie Panthers hoped to make history Friday against the Vinton Lions. After a 2-1 start, a victory by the Panthers would give them the most wins in school history. Unfortunately, the Lions did not cooperate, and came away with the 39-13 win.

The Sacred Heart Trojans will take on the Mamou Demons Friday night in a very important inter-parish contest. Both teams are 1-2 on the season and both teams need a win for a most significant reason: power points. On top of that, it is Sacred Heart’s homecoming.
