Ville Platte High School goes into Friday night’s contest against the Oakdale Warriors needing a victory to even their record for the year. The Bulldogs are 1-2 having dropped their last two games to Basile and Huntington.

What is the best way for a football team to forget a tough loss? How about beating your parish rival? That is exactly what Pine Prairie did Friday night, as the Panthers garnered a huge win over the Mamou Demons 24-6.

The Basile Bearcats have begun the season right on track with last year. Basile now stands undefeated after three games and imposing its will on the St. Edmund Blue Jays Friday night. The Bearcats rolled to a 42-20 victory, amassing 473 yards of offense.

For the second straight year, the Pine Prairie Panthers get bragging rights over the Mamou Green Demons. The final score for this important inter-parish rivalry football game was 24-6. Both teams forced a combined 10 turnovers. The Panthers defense would capitalize on three turnovers for points.

If the game between Ville Platte and Huntington would have been played on an 80-yard field, the Bulldogs would probably be 2-1 on the year. Unfortunately, football teams have to go the extra 20 yards to score.

If you asked Basile Head Coach Kevin Bertrand about playing long-time rival St. Edmund’s, he probably would have told you it was important for his team to play well. Little did he know that the Bearcats would dominate the Blue Jays for the entire game. Basile out-gained St.

The 1-1 Ville Platte High School Bulldogs have proven to be an offensive enigma so far this season. In the opening game against Westminster, the Bulldogs put up 38 points and over 500 yards of offense in a dominating performance.

When the season started, Sacred Heart Head Coach Gary Adkins knew that in order for the Trojans to be successful, they would have to play whole football games. Going into week three, Sacred Heart has yet to play a complete game.
