The Basile Bearcats and the St. Edmund Blue Jays are all too familiar with each other. These long-time rivals have had some knock out, drag out battles over the years. Some of those battles have been really nasty.

Every indication from week one in the regular season pointed to a high-scoring game between Basile and Ville Platte, as both teams scored over thirty points and gained a combined 900-plus yards in their first games.

The Pine Prairie Panthers came into the season knowing that the offense would take some time to grow and mature. Head Coach Yves Prince and his staff were hoping it would happen sooner than later.

The Mamou Green Demons came out on fire Friday night and destroyed the South Cameron Tarpons by a score of 33-7. Dylan Duplechain and Daniel Matthews led the way offensively for the Demons. Duplechain would finish the night with nine of 12 passing for 165 yards and one touchdown.

It may not be the Fourth of July, but we may just see some offensive fireworks Friday night in Basile as the Bearcats host the Ville Platte Bulldogs in what will be one of the most exciting games of the season. Both Basile and Ville Platte are 1-0 coming into the contest.

After a tough loss against Basile Friday, the Sacred Heart Trojans are looking to regroup before facing their longtime rival the Opelousas Catholic Vikings. The game is set for 7 p.m. in Opelousas at Donald Gardner Stadium.

The Mamou Green Demons came into the 2014 season with one goal in mind; to improve every time they play. Friday night against the Pickering Red Devils, the Demons may not have picked up a win but they did take a step toward their goal.

The Pine Prairie Panthers are 1-0 on the season after an exciting 12-6 overtime victory over the North Central Hurricanes. The win gives the Panthers some much-needed confidence going into week two. Pine Prairie will travel to play the East Beauregard Trojans on Friday night.
