The Ville Platte High Bulldogs would use a dominating defense and potent ground attack to subdue the Westminster Crusaders Friday night. The Bulldogs would rack up a total of 548 yards of offense and defensively limit Westminster to 100 total yards.

The Pine Prairie Panthers win their first game of the season in dramatic fashion as they defeated the North Central Hurricanes 12-6 in overtime. An interception by Javon Ardoin on the first play of overtime for North Central sealed the Panther victory.

Pickering came into Mamou Friday night to begin the 2014 regular season. The teams traded touchdowns in the beginning before trading turnovers. The teams then traded jabs like two heavyweight fighters in the ring.

As opening games go, the contest between Sacred Heart and Basile on Friday will be one with far-reaching implications. A victory by either team will not only go a long way toward gaining confidence but will also be used as a spring board into the power ratings. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The Mamou Green Demons will look to continue to improve as they host the Pickering Red Devils at home on Friday night. Mamou is coming off of a 13-6 loss to Ville Platte High in the Evangeline Parish Jamboree. Pickering beat Rosepine in their jamboree last week.

The Ville Platte Bulldogs came away with a 13-6 victory over the Mamou Demons in the Evangeline Parish Jamboree Friday night. Ville Platte used an up-tempo offense and a commanding ground game to hang on to the win over Mamou.

The Basile Bearcats used a potent ground game to outlast the Pine Prairie Panthers Friday night in the Evangeline Parish Jamboree. Basile’s Gabe Fontenot and Kendrick Ceasar combined for 184 yards rushing in leading the Bearcats to a 23-14 victory.

The first test for the Trojans in 2014 turned out to be a tough one as they fell to Central Catholic of Morgan City 14-0 Friday night at the Kiwana’s Jamboree. The game was played at Teurlings High School.
