The Ville Platte Dixie Youth Pitching Machine All-Stars completed their season this past weekend in Monroe at the State Tournament.

It was a valiant effort from the Ville Platte Dixie Youth Super 10 All-stars at the district tournament held in Oberlin this past weekend. But that effort unfortunately fell one game short.

For the Ville Platte eight and under all-stars, advancing to the PONY World Series was definitely a goal at the beginning of the post-season.

It has been an incredible season up to this point for the VPGSA 10 and Under All-Stars.
This group of nine year-olds have not backed down to any challenges all season long, especially having to play teams that are on average one year older.

It has never happened in Ville Platte Girl’s Softball Association history.
But, for the first time ever the six and under all-stars have advanced to the PONY World Series beginning Wednesday July 13. The tournament will take place in Youngsville.

It was a great day for learning last Friday for the Ville Platte Boys and Girls Club, as they were provided valuable information and a fun time when the New Orleans Saints brought their Play 60 youth program to Chicota Youth Camp.

There is no doubt the Ville Platte Dixie Majors are on a mission. All one has to do is to look at how they subdued their opponents on their way to the sub-district title this past weekend in Leesville. The Major all-stars outscored the four teams played 55-6.

It was another fantastic tournament for the VPGSA 10 and under all-stars, as they took home the PONY sectional title this past weekend. The tournament, held in Ville Platte, is a pre-cursor to the regional tournament to be held in Crowley starting on Friday.

When you consider it is the first year that the Ville Platte Girl’s Softball Association has fielded a six and under all-star team, taking home a sectional championship is a huge accomplishment.
