VPHS track march towards state

With the State Track Meet just around the corner, the Ville Platte High Track teams have been marching on ever since they won the Evangeline Parish Track and Field Meet. They recently took the 5-3A event and qualified several athletes at the regional meet.

SH qualifies several athletes for state meet

Sacred Heart Head Coach and Athletic Director Robert Soileau saw several of his hard working ladies qualify for the State Track and Field Meet that will be held at LSU this weekend. To do so, the ladies had to place at the Regional Track and Field Meet.

Trojans stomp Rams, move on

In Sacred Heart’s first round game of the Class 1A playoffs, they stomped the Rams of West St. John 14-1. The win moves the Trojans into the second round, where they will hit the road. The ninth-seeded Trojans will head north to meet the Dragons of Mangham High School.

SHHS Tennis getting hot at the right time

The Sacred Heart tennis unit is getting hot at the right time and the results are showing. The Sacred Heart Trojans sent five tennis teams to the state match last week at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Trojans draw Rams for home opener

After competing in a very tough district, the Sacred Heart Trojans have earned a spot in the Class 1A Baseball Playoffs. The Trojans and Head Coach Cody Vidrine picked up the ninth seed and therefore will host a first round game. The Trojans will host the 24th ranked Rams of West St. John.

Trojans work hard in district, qualify for regional events

Several hardworking Trojan athletes performed well at the District 6-1A Track and Field Meet, which was held at Port Allen High School. The boys and girls had several members place and advance to the regionals, which were held this week.

Vidrine takes McNeese Classic with javelin

John Paul Vidrine won his First NCAA meet Saturday, April 12th. Only a true freshman, he has been very competitive and successful. On May 9, he placed second in the Bob Cole Classic and May 18th Placed fifth in the Rice Inv. Throwers from all over the country competed in the Rice Inv.

Lady Demons blanked by Fisher

Going into their second round game with Fisher, the Mamou Lady Demons felt as though they had a good chance to win. After all, Mamou had faced tougher competition and seemed to have the talent to win that game.

Late rally falls short for SHHS

When down 5-0 after three innings, most teams would roll up camp and call it a day. However, not if you are the Lady Trojans of Sacred Heart. The fifth-ranked team did not simply lay down when the Cedar Creek Lady Cougars took a commanding lead in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs.

Lady Pirates give PPHS the slip

Pine Prairie made the short trip to Kaplan Friday afternoon to take on the second-ranked Lady Pirates. Pine Prairie Head Coach Carolyn Deville knew it was not going to be an easy task, but felt like her hard-working team had a good chance.
