For brothers Tre’ and Dreu Fontenot, the decision to walk along side thousands of other high school students in the 44th Annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. was an easy one, especially considering how passionate the Fontenots are when it comes to the issue of abortion.

The Tri-Parish job picture ended on a down note at the end of year, according to not-seasonally-adjusted data from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics released Friday.
Unemployment rates were up in St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes in December compared to December 2015.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported 24 recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons:
• Dawn B. Fontenot, 34, 1080 Pine Hall Rd., Ville Platte, was arrested on December 22, 2016 for a probation hold. Fontenot remains incarcerated at this time.
