Trojans begin District 5-1A competition

The Sacred Heart Trojans kicked off District 5-1A play and earned a big win right away. They crushed the Westminster Crusaders 14-1 in non-league play and then swept by the Gators of False River 14-1 to start league play.

Bayou Chicot takes second at Jr. High State

Bayou Chicot’s Lady Demons Junior High softball team placed second in the State Jr. High Softball Tournament. They won their first two games of the bracket before falling to Rayne Catholic in the state finals. The event took place in Monroe.

Panthers maintain perfect league record with recent win

The Panthers of Pine Prairie (13-5, 4-0) maintained their perfect league record with a 14-4 win over the Lady Bears of Church Point. The win coupled with wins over Northwest and Ville Platte High have the Lady Panthers in first place in District 5-3A.

Several Green Demons earn representation on 4-2A squad

There was some competition all across District 4-2A and the Mamou High team fought hard all season.

Sacred Heart fares well at Elton Relays

At the annual Elton Indian Relays, the Sacred Heart High School track teams went and participated well. The event was helping the SHHS teams prepare for their annual parish, district, regional and state meets, which are all yet to come as the spring sports seasons roll on.

Bulldogs, Panthers earn spots on 5-3A squad

The All-District 5-3A basketball team was selected toward the end of the season. With the bulk of the district teams making the post-season, it was an extremely competitive league to say the least.

McKinney, Doulet lead 5-3A platoon

It was an amazing playoff season for the Ville Platte High Lady Bulldogs. They placed second in the Class 3A in the State of Louisiana and finished the year with an amazing of 31-3 and won District 5-3A with a record of 10-0.

Lady Panther softball heating up

It is another season on the diamond for the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers and legendary Head Coach Carolyn Deville. After making it to the quarter-finals last year and falling to a tough North Webster team, the Lady Panthers are back on a mission.

SHHS softball getting on track

After a slow start, the Lady Trojans of Sacred Heart rebounded to get a pair of wins over Pitkin High School. Sacred Heart dropped 10-0 losses to Iota and Mamou and then fell to Comeaux 8-7. The three straight losses moved Sacred Heart to 1-3 on the season.
