State Runner-Up looks forward

After an amazing season, the 2014 Class 3A State Runners-Up are taking some time off, but not before they reflect on a season that may have been one of the best in Ville Platte High School history.

Trojans blaze through first three games

Sacred Heart blasted through their first three games of the season by a combined score of 34-0 against Hamilton Christian, Merryville and Pine Prairie. The Trojans are looking to sharpen their skills as they march towards a grueling district schedule.

Lady Bulldogs earn State Runner-Up

For the second time in her short career as a head coach, Dot Doulet has seen her team earn a state runner-up spot. This time it was in Class 3A against University High. The Lady Cubs slipped by Ville Platte High 63-56 in a game that was close throughout.

Going into a hostile environment can always be scary for any unit in battle. That was the situation Ville Platte Head Coach Dot Doulet and her girls faced as they traveled to Rayville to take on the ninth-seeded Lady Hornets. Ville Platte went into Rayville and accomplished their mission.

Rams run down Bulldogs in first round

Going on the road in the playoffs is never easy, no matter what the situation. If you add in the fact that the Bulldogs were in their first year in Class 3A and they had to go on the road to face the Richwood Rams, and it makes for a dire situation.

SHHS gets win over LCA to start season

The Lady Trojans of Sacred Heart defeated Lafayette Christian 10-0 to star the season.

Lady Bulldogs knock out Brusly

After a slow start, the Lady Bulldogs of Ville Platte High opened up a world of pain and suffering on the Lady Panthers of No. 16 Brusly High Monday night. The Lady Bulldogs handed the Lady Panthers a 66-49 defeat and sent them back home.

Bulldogs begin 3A run with a road game

It has been a while since Ville Platte High had to travel on the road during the first round of the playoffs. It had also been a long time since the Bulldogs were in Class 3A for the basketball playoffs.

Lady Bulldogs make short work of Lady Jags

Ville Platte High, the top-rated team in Class 3A, destroyed Thomas Jefferson 70-31 in Thursday night’s opening round game of the playoffs. The win moves VPHS to the next round, where they will host the Brusly Lady Panthers Monday night at 6 p.m.
