The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans went to Youngsville to take on the Class 1A Lady Gators of Ascension Episcopal. The two 1A teams squared off and made a good game of it. A tremendous opening period helped the SHHS girls take a commanding lead and stay in control throughout the game.

Competing in Class 3A will not be an easy task for the Pine Prairie Panthers. However, Head Coach Chris Guillory has his talented squad playing good ball and racking up wins. The Panthers earned a big win in dramatic style against a tough Basile team.

The Sacred Heart Trojans played in a district that sent every team to the Division IV playoffs. Many of the teams, including the Trojans, advanced to the second round of the playoffs. When the All-District 5-1A team was selected, representatives were spread out amongst all the teams.

When Ville Platte High and North Central get together on the basketball court, it has always been a battle. The two basketball powers met Tuesday in Ville Platte and that trend continued.

It was a brand new season for Ville Platte High and Pine Prairie this year in football. Both schools had to compete in Class 3A for the first time in a very long time. For Pine Prairie, it was their first time ever to compete in the higher division.

When you go 10-0 through your regular season schedule and make it to the Class 1A quarter-finals, it’s safe to say you dominated your football season. Basile not only went 10-0 and made it to the quarter-finals, but also won the outright District 4-1A championship.

When the Evangeline Parish basketball finals commenced Saturday evening, the final scores in both finals showed what many of the last several Evangeline Parish championships have.

The Evangeline Parish Tournament kicked off at Sacred Heart High School and the hoops action got hot early. The reigning champs, Ville Platte High, walked through the brackets and moved toward the finals.

The 2013 Sacred Heart Turkey Tournament kicked off over the Thanksgiving Holidays. The success continues to follow this event that the SHHS coaching staff put together. Several teams from Evangeline Parish were in attendance to show their stuff on the hardwood.
