The engagement of Miss Britney Clair Johnson to Richard Matthew Herboldsheimer, the son of Maurice and Elizabeth Herboldsheimer of Lawtell, has been announced by her parents, David and Tammy Johnson of Ville Platte.

Locals earns honors at NSU

NATCHITOCHES – Nine hundred forty-eight Northwestern State University students were named to the Honor List for the Spring 2016 semester. Students on the Honor List must be enrolled full-time at Northwestern State and have a grade point average of between 3.0 and 3.49.

Ville Platte’s Blood named 2016 Miss Smoked Meat

Zoe Anne Courville, Alison Renee Blood and Jacqueline Shiloh-Gradnigo all took home queen titles in the Smoked Meat Festival Pageants on Sunday.
Blood, the 20-year-old daughter of Marsha and Jimbo Blood of Ville Platte, was named Miss Smoked Meat.

Former Marine, former Guardsman to serve as festival’s guest speakers

The Louisiana Smoked Meat Festival will feature two guest speakers this year.
