The Kentwood Kangaroos continued to play the role of Scrooge and ruin the holidays for the Basile Bearcats. Although it was a battle for most of the game, eventually the Roos did what they do and took control.

Over the last decade, Basile has seen a ton of success. They have made it to the playoffs nearly every year and advanced to the second round or further on multiple occasions. Unfortunately, they continue to have their strong seasons ended by the same team.

All season long, Basile has been known for their defensive power. The 2013 defensive group has been giving up less than eight points a game. With Plain Dealing coming to Basile, it was going to be a tough test. The Lions were putting up 30 points or more a game.

The 2013 Sacred Heart Turkey Tournament will begin tomorrow morning at Sacred Heart High School. The double elimination event will go through Wednesday evening. The finals for the girl’s bracket will be held Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m., while the boy’s bracket finals will take place at 8 p.m.

In most cases, the high scoring offense does not stand much of a chance against a good defense. Especially if that defense is playing at home and has had two weeks off.

The Trojans of Sacred Heart are fresh off their first playoff win since 2005 after defeating the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights 35-0 in front of the SHHS crowd. The impressive win moves the Trojans to the regional round of the playoffs where they will make a long trip north to Monroe.
