Mamou (1-6) found themselves over come by the powerful Vinton Lions in week eight of the regular season and district schedule. The Lions took a 34-0 win over the home standing Demons.

The weather got cooler, but the Bulldogs got hot.
Ville Platte caught fire in the first half Friday night, beating Pine Prairie, 41-0, for a homecoming victory.

The overall fourth ranked team in Class 1A, Basile, proved why they are worthy of that rank. They crushed Grand Lake High School Friday night 51-6 to remain undefeated on the year. The win moves Basile to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in league competition.

It was homecoming at Sacred Heart High School Friday night and the Trojans were riding a three-game win streak going into the contest. That did not make things any easier for the False River Academy Gators and Head Coach Ray Aucoin.

On homecoming night, the ninth-ranked team in class 2A came into Mamou and made sure their presence was known early. The Welsh Greyhounds were not about to take a chance and let the Mamou Demons upset them, regardless of the fact that is was a festive night.

Both Pine Prairie and Ville Platte had their issues in their last few weeks. Ville Platte went to Port Barre with a handful of key starters out and fell a score short to the Red Devils. Pine Prairie hosted a very talented, up-and-coming Church Point team and also came up short in the end.

Thus far, the Trojans have made the most of the opportunities as they have rattled off three straight wins against teams they are expected to beat. That is what good teams do.

Mamou went to DeQuincy and faced a very tough team that handed Mamou their fourth straight loss. Mamou has not won since week two, when they crushed South Cameron. The Green Demons look to change that tomorrow night against the ninth-ranked Welsh Greyhounds.

After putting up 58 points in week six’s District 4-1A contest last week, Basile will come home and host the Grand Lake Hornets (1-5). The fourth ranked Bearcats are a heavy favorite in this one and they should be able to pull this one.
