A settlement was reached on Wednesday in a federal lawsuit against former Ville Platte Police Officer Larry Fontenot, who was accused of forcing two women to expose themselves during an August 2015 roadside encounter.

On Thursday, Stacey M. Fontenot, who was arrested in connection to a stabbing that occurred at last year’s Mamou Mardi Gras celebration, appeared before Judge Gary Ortego.

VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services for Nellie Giroir Fontenot, 73, were held Saturday January 7, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Te Mamou cemetery. Fr. Mitch Guidry officiated.

Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine announced on Friday morning that City Hall would be closing its doors early due to the winter weather hitting Ville Platte and the rest of Evangeline Parish on Friday. The Ville Platte City Hall will be back open on Monday morning.
