Trojans make short work of Hurricanes

Sacred Heart opened District 5-1A play by efficiently handling the woefully undermanned North Central Hurricanes Friday night, 40-6, to win their third game in a row.
Next week, the 3-2 Trojans host winless False River for homecoming.

Bears plow past Panthers

The heavily-favored Church Point Bears came to Pine Prairie Friday night and didn’t waste anytime introducing the Panthers to Class 3A fooball. Church Point rattled off 36 points and let their defense and special teams do the talking.

Tigers cruise by Demons

Mamou (1-5) went to DeQuincy to begin District 4-2A action Friday night. The Tigers made short work of Mamou and won by a score of 48-6.
DeQuincy scored six times in the opening half and totaled up over 320 yards in the half, according to a Lake Charles newspaper website.

Bulldogs and Red Devils reignite rivalry

For as long as most VPHS alumni can remember, hard-fought battles against Port Barre and Oakdale have been part of the Bulldogs’ profile. After crushing Oakdale in week four, the Bulldogs now look to begin District 5-3A competition with a big win over Port Barre (4-1) in week six.

The Basile Bearcats attained a fourth slot in the Louisiana Class 1A polls this week. With that good news, Basile heads south to play the Tarpons of South Cameron (2-3).

After back-to-back road trips, the Sacred Heart Trojans get to return home to play on their own turf. What’s even better is the fact that the North Central Hurricanes (1-4) are coming to town. The Canes have struggled this year and have just one win over winless Gueydan.

Demons and Tigers tangle to begin league play

Mamou (1-4) gets set to hit the road to face the DeQuincy Tigers (2-3) to begin 4-2A competition. The Tigers are coming off of a 13-27 loss to Oakdale, while Mamou is coming off of a heartbreaking loss to Class 1A power Montgomery.

Trojans cruise by Panthers

The Sacred Heart Trojans pitched their second shutout in two weeks with a 30-0 win over Evangeline Parish opponent Pine Prairie. The Trojans blanked Mamou last week 40-0, marking their first win of the season and their first shutout.
