2008 Boggy Bayou youth royalty crowned last weekend

Six new festival queens and three kings were crowned Saturday, March 8, during the 2008 Boggy Bayou Festival Pageants held at Pine Prairie High School auditorium.

The new royalty will visit residents at the nursing home, attend area events, take part in area parades and attend the upcoming Boggy Bayou Festival, set for April 4-6, in Pine Prairie.

Winning the crown of Baby Miss Boggy Bayou from a field of 24 contestants was Emily Aucoin, the 13-month-old daughter of Tara Day and Scott Aucoin of Bayou Chicot. Placing as first runner-up was Kale Elizabeth Cloud, the 13-month-old daughter of Wade and Tiffani Cloud of Elizabeth. Olivia Kidder, the 18-month-old daughter of Kasie Holsomback and Kyle Kidder of Pine Prairie, was named second runner-up. Other semi-finalists in the baby miss division included: Kylee Perron, the 16-month-old daughter of Michael and Emerald Perron of Ville Platte; Olivia O’Neal, the 17-month-old daughter of Daniel and Heather O’Neal of Pine Prairie; Shasta McDaniel, the seven-month-old daughter of David Paul and Courtney McDaniel of Bayou Chicot; Alexis Davis, the 10-month-old daughter of Ellen and Shane Davis of Ville Platte; and Bethany Soileau, the eight-month-old daughter of Jeremy and Janna Soileau of Ville Platte.

The Baby Mr. Boggy Bayou title was awarded to Ethan Michael Fontenot, the 14-month-old son of Stephen and Melissa Fontenot of Pine Prairie. Placing as first runner-up was Brandon Slate King, the eight-month-old son of Brandon and Leacy King of the Lake Cove community. Ashton Kade Morrow, the seven-month-old son of Charley and Kasey Morrow of Pitkin, was named second runner-up to the baby king.

Capturing the Tiny Miss Boggy Bayou crown for 2008 was Adrianna Grace Johnson, the two-year-old daughter of Eric and Cindy Johnson of Elizabeth. The first runner-up award went to Kelci Brooke Fontenot, the 19-month-old daughter of Ashley Wilson and Joey Fontenot of Mamou. Malaykiah Jaide Clark, the two-year-old daughter of Conrad and Stephanie Clark of Oakdale, was named second runner-up in this division.

Hayden Michael Guillory, the two-year-old son of Chastity and Michael Guillory of Ville Platte, was crowned 2008 Tiny Mr. Boggy Bayou. Placing as first runner-up in this division was John Thomas Thrasher, the 21-month-old son of Tonya Guillory and William Thrasher of Turkey Creek. Cameron Himel, the 29-month-old son of Tasha Rollins of Bayou Chicot and Chad Himel of Thibodaux, was named second runner-up.

Shaylynn Marie Ashford, the four-year-old daughter of Miranda and Mitch Ashford of Turkey Creek, was crowned Little Miss Boggy Bayou for 2008. Placing as first runner-up was Chyanne Alysse LeBleu, the daughter of Kevin and Racheal LeBleu of Ville Platte. Second runner-up was Chloe Leger, the daughter of Stephanie Leger and Keith Leger of Turkey Creek. Other semi-finalists were: Kailey Brianne Soileau, the daughter of Karen Fontenot and Brian Soileau of Pine Prairie; Natalie Nicole Wilson, the daughter of Ashley Wilson and Joey Fontenot of Mamou; and Emma Grace Clark, the daughter of Jeffrey and Kimberly Clark of Turkey Creek.

The Little Mr. Boggy Bayou title went to Kaygun Daye Fontenot, the five-year-old son of Kaylum Fontenot and Kristy Marcantel of Ville Platte.

Winning the Petite Miss title for 2008 was Jillian Grace Thille, the seven-year-old daughter of David and Amanda Thille of Ville Platte. Placing as first runner-up to the petite queen was Isabella Juarez, the seven-year-old daughter of Jamie and Chris Juarez ofWashington. Kaycee Clark, the nine-year-old daughter of Kevin and Monique Clark of Turkey Creek, was named second runner-up.

Lindsie McDaniel, the 11-year-old daughter of Bryan and Dawnyna McDaniel of Bayou Chicot, was crowned Deb Miss Boggy Bayou for 2008. The first runner-up award went to Katelyn Noelle Thille, the 12-year-old daughter of David and Amanda Thille of Ville Platte. Named second runner-up was Bonnie King, the 13-year-old daughter of Shelby and Janine King of the Lake Covecommunity.

Capturing the Jr. Miss Boggy Bayou crown for 2008 was Sarah Buller, the 15-year-old daughter of Kelli and Lucas Buller of Ville Platte. Mallory McGraw, the 16-year-old daughter of Kayla and Donovan Guillory of St. Landry, was named first runner-up in the junior miss division. Placing as second runner-up was Aimee Nicole Banks, the 15-year-old daughter of Angie and Kevin Banks of Pine Prairie.

Judging Saturday’s pageant were: Hope Lee Mestayer, the 2007 Miss Church Point Buggy Festival Queen; Kandy Andrepont, the reigning Miss Eunice; and Candace Terry, the 2006 Miss Evangeline Parish and the 2006 Joie de Noel Queen.

A special thanks goes to all contestants, parents and sponsors. “This was one of the largest pageants we’ve ever had. Without the parents, contestants and sponsors, we would not be able to raise money for our local nursing home,” says Bernice Ardoin, pageant director. “We thank them all very much.”
