2008 Miss Crowley contestants

CROWLEY – Competing for the title of Miss Crowley in Saturday’s 2008 Miss Crowley Pageant are Christana Dane Goff, Laura Blaire Childress, Olivia Theresa LeJeune, Alana Catherine Immel, Lauren Catherine Leger and Julia Ann Maynard.

Christana Dane Goff is the seventeen year old daughter of Shane and Angie Goff. She stands 5’4” tall and has brown hair and blue eyes. She is presently employed with the City of Crowley.

Christana is home schooled and is very active in 4-H. She was an event coordinator for the Acadia Parish Fashion Board, a 4-H ambassador, the parliamentarian for the 4-H Junior Leadership Club, vice president of the Acadia Parish Horse Club and is currently the president of the Junior Leadership Club for the upcoming school year. Upon graduation she plans to attend McNeese State University and major in animal science with an emphasis on equine sciences.

Christana has received many awards and honors throughout the years such as being selected as Outstanding Junior Leader of the Year and first place in meat identification and plant science. She is also very active in showing horses and holds the title for high point performance champion and was named overall champion of that particular show. She also won reserve champion Arabian Gelding at the district 4-H show. Her proudest moment is when she was selected to ride in the 250th celebration of the Marquis de Lafayette and was the youngest rider in the parade.

In her spare time, she enjoys dancing and has been selected to the International Rice Festival Dance Troupe for the second year in a row. She enjoys sewing, knitting, drawing, hunting and fishing. She is also a big fan of Turner Classic Movies.

Laura Blaire Childress is the eighteen year old daughter of Ricci Arnaud. She stands 5’7” tall and has brown hair and blue eyes. She is presently employed with a housekeeping service.

Laura a 2008 graduate of Rayne High School, where she was active in band. She a section leader, first lieutenant for the Frog and Rice Festival Parades and was selected to participate in the Macy’s High School All Star Marching Band. She was also very active in the Rayne High Drama Club and has earned seven roles in Acadia Player productions. Laura was recently awarded the Acadia Players Scholarship for her many years of acting with the community theater. She also received the DAR Scholarship, the Best Western Scholarship and the Regents Scholar Certificate of Recognition.

Laura plans to attend LSUE where she will major in pre-veterinary medicine.

Olivia Theresa LeJeune is the seventeen year old daughter of Donald and Edith LeJeune. Olivia stands 5’ tall and has brown hair and brown eyes.

She is presently attending Midland High School and plans to graduate in 2009. She is very active in FCCLA where she is the current chapter president and regional vice president of parliamentary law. She was Chapter 1 vice president, vice president of finance and individual programs and records and regional vice president of finance. She is also involved in FFA and is the treasurer of the Library Club.

Olivia is an Honor Roll student and has received many honors such as the Faculty Science Award, was named Outstanding FCCLA Member for two years and placed first at regional rally for management resources. She also organized a Coke Tab Drive at school for the Ronald McDonald House in New Orleans. Upon graduation she plans to attend LSU or Northwestern University and major in pre-med or pre-law.

Alana Catherine Immel is the eighteen year old daughter of Alexa and Peter John and Jeff and Rachel Immel. Alana stands 5’5” tall and has blond hair and blue eyes. She is presently employed part time by LA PAC, where she designs rice bags.

Alana is a recent graduate of Westminister Christian Academy and plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and major in graphic design. While in school, she won two awards at the Louisiana State Art Festival. She was also active in student council, drama team and choir. During her freshman year she was selected to sing the National Anthem at an Astros game. While on the drama team she created a playbill, and was in charge of hair and makeup for two years. She also had an interest in sports, and ran track and was the goalie for her Lacrose team.

Starting in Alana’s junior year in high school, she began traveling to Brazil for missionary work. She has been back six times for missions with the Southern Baptist Conventions. While in Brazil she works in the medical clinics and last year even got to pull a wisdom tooth from a patient. When she is not in the medical clinics she is teaching at a Bible School for the locals and hopes to learn Portuguese one day.

Lauren Catherine Leger is the twenty year old daughter of Anne Dill and Randall Leger. Lauren stands 5’9” tall and has brown hair and hazel eyes. She is presently working at American Legion Hospital as a nurses aid.

Lauren is presently attending McNeese State University where she is majoring in nursing. During her high school years at Notre Dame High School, she was active in choir, the math team, the French team, the drama club and Camp Johnathon. Lauren was also asked to paint the mural on the cafeteria wall. While in high school, she played basketball for two years. She graduated with Honors and received the TOPS Award.

In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, cooking, shopping and playing video games.

Lauren is being sponsored by Healthworks Gym.

Julia Ann Maynard is the eighteen year old daughter of Larry and Karen Maynard. She stands 5’1” tall and has brown hair and brown eyes. She plans on attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she will be majoring in performing arts.

During her high school years, Julia was active in 4- H, the drama club, the speech club, campus ministry, the frontier club, the triple A club and the library club. While in high school, she was a member of the Acadia Players for three years and received the Acadia Players Scholarship as well as the Best Female Actress Scholarship from Notre Dame. She is currently working with costumes and makeup. Julia also received a first place medal and UL scholarship in literary rally.

In her spare time, Julia enjoys being a camp director at a vacation Bible school in Turkey Creek.
