Acadia Chapter LSDAR present awards

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was organized in 1890. The objects of the society are “to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence; to promote the development of an enlightened public opinion; and to foster patriotic citizenship.”

The organization accomplishes the goals in many different ways: sponsoring Veterans’ Day Programs and other projects to honor our military; contests and scholarships in all grades in the schools, and this particular award, the Good Citizen award.

The award was presented to the student in ares schools, chosen by the faculty committee, who best exemplified the characteristics of honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism.

On behalf of Acadia Chapter Louisiana Society Daughters of American Revolution, Charlene Lacombe, Regent presented this Good Citizen Award to Justin Lavergne, Armstrong Middle School; Jessica E. Breaux, Crowley Middle School; Tayler Suire, Egan Elementary; Jessie Deshotel, Evangeline Elementary; Taylor Doucet, Iota Middle School; Catelyn Stanford, Northside Christian School; Katherine Foreman, Redemptorist Catholic; Bethany Leger, Richard Elementary School; and Leah Hundley, St. Michael Elementary.
