Acadia Xi Chapter, Delta

Xi Chapter, Epsilon State, of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society met at the home of Diane Wakefield at 10 a.m. on April 5 with President Suzanne Gray presiding.

The collect was led by Sandra Pruitt and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Diane Wakefield. Mary Beth Geesey moved that the minutes be approved as printed in the newsletter. Motion carried. Jo-Anne Arnaud gave the treasurer’s report.

Under old business, members discussed what the members could provide for the Main Street Market. Mary Beth Geesey will check on the next date for this event. Dana Leger will also help with this project. Diane Wakefield suggested that we have a meeting for next year where members could work on vocabulary cards, math facts and word lists.

Pam Dequeant requested that members give her the applications for new members.

Under new business, Suzanne Gray requested that we investigate the design and price for a new Xi Chapter flag. Pam Dequeant moved that we look into the making of a new flag and Maura Cavell seconded the motion. The motion passed. Susan Soileau will investigate this matter.

Suzanne Gray complimented the members for the wonderful participation at the state convention. She informed members that we won all the awards.

The president reported that Xi Chapter will be the host chapter for the Epsilon State 2009 Convention in Lafayette. Carole Stelly had agreed to be the registration chairman, Jo-Ann Arnaud will be the treasurer, and Josie Fontenot will be in charge of table decorations. The convention will be the state’s 75th birthday. Discussion was held on the type of favors we will provide (pins, book marks, paper clips, etc.)

Suzanne Gray also explained to the members that the amendments had to be read in entirety at the state convention. It was also noted that the International dues will probably be going up next year.

Members were asked to provide any news for the Xi Flash. It was announced that Gwen Foreman was nominated the Parish Elementary Teacher and that Mary Beth Istre was named Middle School of the Year. Joanna Pruitt expressed her thanks for all the prayers made for Albert. He did not have the surgery.

Ann Adam presented an informative titled “So you want to serve high tea?” She explained where tea came from, the presentation of tea, the difference between high and low tea, the proper way to make tea, and food that is served with tea.

Hostesses were Josie Fontenot, Sandra Pruitt, Suzanne Gray, and Lisa Stewart.
