Bengals claw Gators

BEAUMONT, Texas – The nationally top-ranked LSU at Eunice Bengals added another win to their belts last week, banishing the San Jacinto Gators 14-3 Thursday.
The Bengals (28-7) got on the board in the top of the first with LSU transfer Kellan Bozeman’s RBI base hit.
But San Jac tied the score in the second half when Kris Miller hit a solo home run over the left field fence.
In the top of the third, the Bengals had the bases loaded with only one out when Bozeman drew a walk to drive one run.
Tyler Slocum then doubled to left field, scoring two runs, and Brady Bourque sacrificed to center to drive in another run.
Perry Smith’s base hit scored the fifth run of the inning, giving LSUE a 6-1 lead.
In the top of the seventh, Bozeman doubled to score one run, and was driven home by Slocum’s base hit.
In the top of the ninth, the Bengals loaded the bases with two outs when Chase Blanchard tripled for three runs and then scored on Boomer Blanchard’s base hit.
Delta Cleary then homered over the right-field fence on a 1-1 count, scoring himself and Boomer Blanchard and giving LSUE a 14-1 lead.
Ryan Boudreaux (7-0) once again pitched the win, giving up one earned run off of five hits and three walks while striking out six batters in seven innings.
Today, the Bengals take on Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Miss. at 2 p.m.
They return home for a weekend series against Baton Rouge Community College beginning 6:30 p.m. Friday.
