Burglars arrested by police
CROWLEY – Crowley Police have arrested three men in reference to an early morning commercial burglary within the city of Crowley.
According to Chief of Police K.P. Gibson, an officer was patrolling in the area of Vermillion Seafood, located on North Parkerson Ave. During this time, officers were advised of an audible alarm from the business.
“As the officer was on patrol and the dispatch for the alarm was broadcasted, the suspects were fleeing the business in a vehicle. The officers on shift worked together to stop the vehicle without incident and take the suspect into custody pending the investigation,” stated Chief Gibson.
The investigation revealed that the three suspects entered the business by force and stole 13 sacks of seafood. The property, which was stolen, was recovered in the possession of the culprits.
Arrested were Blaine Daigle, 29 of Rayne; Michael LeJeune, 45 of Church Point and James Meche, Jr., 26 of Church Point. All three suspects were booked into the Acadia Parish Jail for burglary.
“ I want to praise the officers involved in this case. Had it not been for aggressive patrol, good observations and team work, this case may not have been solved as quickly as it was,” stated Chief Gibson.
