Car jacking in Ville Platte under investigation

The Ville Platte Police Department is investing a car jacking, which occurred outside Subway Monday evening.

Lt. Craig Nicholas, a detective with the department, said officers responded to the area at approximately 8 p.m. He said a 16-year-old female was entering her vehicle after coming out of Subway when two black men, dressed all in black, pointed a gun at her and demanded she get out of her vehicle.

“They left the scene and headed down Lithcote Road,” Nicholas said.

On Tuesday, around noon, the police department was contacted by authorities in Eunice that the vehicle had been located, abandoned on the outskirts of Eunice. The vehicle was processed for evidence and returned to its owner.

The female was not injured, Nicholas said, as he explained detectives were following leads in the Eunice area on Wednesday. “The investigation is still underway.”
