HOUSTON

HOUSTON – Claybey (C.P.) Abshire, 72, born on August 19, 1935 in Lyons Point, LA, the youngest of nine children, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in Houston.

He was preceded in death by his son, Carl and grandson, Brandon.

He moved to Houston from Crowley in 1954 and retired in 1995 from Metropolitan Transit Authority after 37 years.

C.P. is survived by his loving wife, Connie, of 35 years; children, Dirk Abshire and wife Laurie, Lonnie Abshire, Patrick Abshire and wife Laurie, Christine Taylor and husband Tony, Laurie Frayser and husband Randy, Shellie Murz and husband Jim; grandchildren, Derek, Kristine, Alex, Justin, Austin, Caitlyn, Randall, Nicholas, Bryan, Aaron, Jacob and Daniel; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Audra and Kiara; siblings, Mabel Ettienne and husband Bee of Hollandale, Miss.; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. with a Vigil at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008 in the Chapel of Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 10135 West Rd., Houston, TX 77064.

Rite of Committal will immediately follow via escorted cortege to Woodlawn Cemetery.
