Heritage Manor News: Happy Veterans Day!

(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Patricia Duplechin, resident activity director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. This column runs every Sunday in The Gazette.)
We salute all veterans and are happy to be able to recognize our veterans with a party on November 11, beginning at 2 p.m. in the activity room. This holiday is dedicated to American veterans of all wars. According to the Census Bureau, there are more than 21 million veterans in the United States. We honor our veteran residents each year and show them appreciation with a certificate and serve cake and punch.
Activities this week include mass, in-room visits, pokeno, bedside manicures, Come Lord Jesus group, bingo sponsored by the Catholic Daughters, group therapy, parachute fun, happy hour, rosary, music by T-Rob Soileau and Silver Eagles social.
The staff of Heritage Manor wishes a Happy Birthday this week to Joseph Fontenot, Theresa Fontenot and Joseph Bourque.
The staff of Heritage Manor sends get-well wishes to Carlton Soileau and Felicien Lejeune.
Congratulations to the November Employee of the Month Tyra Ardoin and Resident of the Month Wanda Torres. Both of these ladies are really deserving of this honor.
Many thanks to Lou Vidrine and Verna Fontenot for their Wednesday visits to the bedbound residents. They look forward to those visits.
The Christmas calendar is quickly filling up, so we advise school leaders, organizations, church members and all volunteers that wish to schedule a party, choir singing or gifts and games, to please call ahead of time in order to accommodate you. We are also getting phone calls about our “adopt a resident for Christmas” program. Feel free to call for more information on deadlines and gift suggestions.
