Heritage Manor News: The history of Veterans Day

On November 11, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the Armistice was signed to signal the end of World War I. It is now celebrated across the United States as Remembrance Day and Veterans Day. Heritage Manor salutes its resident veterans, Andrus Chapman (Purple Heart), James Deville, Louis Lafleur, Roland Cloutier, Jack Deville, Kenneth Castille and Robert Soileau.
The pride card winner for October was Bridgette Celestine.
Winners of the Halloween costume contest were selected by judges Judy Guillory and Mable Foreman. Winners were as follows: Rachel Brignac, RN, as an evil witch, most original; Robert Guillory, therapy, as Big Bird, funniest; and Todd Thompson, maintenance, as a killer clown, scariest. Many thanks to the judges and participants.
The staff of Heritage Manor wishes a Happy Birthday this week to Claney Fontenot, Theresa Fontenot and Florence Ardoin.
Activities for the month of November include ride in the park for the dementia unit residents, bingo sponsored by Compass, a.m. stretch, pokeno, Friday mass by Sacred Heart, in-room visits, birthday party, movie and popcorn, VFW barbecue and ice cream party.
On Thanksgiving eve, Wednesday, November 27, we will have our fourth annual sweets party. It will be held in the dining room beginning at 2 p.m. All family and friends of residents and volunteers are encouraged to attend and bring the desert of your choice to share. Please call ahead and let us know if you plan to attend and what you will be sharing.
