Heritage Manor News: Importance of voting
Voting is very important to all citizens and is a privilege. This election is very important for Amendment One to pass in order to protect our senior citizens. Voting yes would give the constitutional protection of keeping provisions in Louisiana Medical Assistance Trust Fund and to establish a baseline compensation rate for health care providers that pay provider fees. Currently, the state assesses provider fees on nursing facilities, intermediate care facilities for the developmentally disabled and community pharmacies. The nursing facility provider fee started in 1993 and secured funding for the elderly and disabled. Quality health care for the elderly should be among the state’s highest priorities. This is the reason we will be at the polls on election day and in the week of absentee voting. Each individual capable of and wanting to vote will be transported for this event. We encourage all to go out and vote yes to Amendment One.
