Minister’s Corner: The sanctity of life
In Genesis 1:26-27 KJV, we read, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
The Bible is very specific of the origin of man. We did not evolve from primordial ooze, but we were created by the deliberate action of a loving and caring God. Therefore, life is special and should be treated as such. Every individual has God’s thumb print upon their life. They are unique and special. They come in different sizes and different colors but they all have God’s imprint upon them. We need to see people through the eyes of God. We need to see the hidden potential in every human being. God loves them all and so should we. We should respect all life as God given.
Towards this end, I have published a book entitled “A Labor of Love.” It deals with the life of our handicapped son and how he experienced joy and quality in his life. The book can be ordered from your Christian bookstore, Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com or on e-books. Simply ask for “A Labor of Love” by Rev. Brian Dore’. I believe that you will find this book thought provoking and heart wrenching.
