Creative method captures thieves

CROWLEY – Three Acadia Parish men are facing charges after stealing crawfish out of an area pond.

The arrest happened around 8 p.m. Thursday on Highway 90. The three men were caught by a private investigator hired by the pond’s owner who had become fed up with the recent thefts in the area.

The P.I. used night vision binoculars to spot the men. Forty-year-old Edward Harris and two seventeen-year-olds, Frank Bott and Mel Menard are now behind bars.

Investigators say the men made an attempt at hiding underwater, but were spotted when authorities saw one of their noses sticking out.
