Crowley plagued by power surges

CROWLEY – From the beginning of the day on Tuesday, winds were pretty powerful all day long. Throughout the day, winds surged in from the coast, ranging between 20 mph to 45 mph, with winds becoming less intense at approximately 7 p.m. last night, according to KATC.com.

As a result of these extreme winds, there was a series of power surges in Acadia Parish. The surges were the result of strong winds blowing, causing tree limbs to knock into power lines and cut electricity temporarily throughout the day, a Cleco official announced. Many area residents experienced surges, and a few even lost power for short periods of time.

Strong storms moved into Acadiana late Tuesday night, dragging a cold front through the damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes.
