Crowley resident to compete for title

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – While many believe the keys to a successful auction are good weather and great deals the real key to a successful auction is its’ “ringman.” An essential member of the auction team, the “ringman” interacts directly with prospective buyers, answers questions, encourages bidding, and informs the auctioner of bids. This year, Joey Young of Finance Motors of Crowley will join other “ringmen” and take part in the National Auctioneers Association’s 2nd Annual International Ringman Championship in Nashville a the 59th International Auctioneers Conference and Show.

Young, a native of Crowley, and businesses owner in and around the area has been an active member in the auction community since 1991. Giving back to his community by offering his services to many auctioning benefits, he has become a popular favorite in the southern part of the state. Young will be traveling to Nashville, Tenn. to put his entertaining personality to the test.

Competitors will display their skills and talents as “ringman” during the National Auctioneers Foundation Benefit Auction on Wednesday, July 9. Participants will be judged on their interaction with the audience and ability to communicate bids to the auctioneer. The IRC Champion will receive a championship ring, $5,000 cash prize, trophy and recognition as the world’s best “ringman.”
