Deshotel completes certification phase

J. Barney Deshotel Sr. attended a four-and-a-half day school in Sulphur, given by the International Code Conference (ICC), to study the structural part of the building inspector certification program.

Deshotel is presently a certified building inspector, but he wants to achieve the certification for a certified building official. To obtain this certification, he must take a multiple-test series and successfully pass certification classes in structure, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and air conditioning, etc.

The new certified building official status is the result of new building codes adopted by the state post hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This international certification complies with the new standards.

To achieve his goal, Deshotel will have to complete at least four parts of this certification process.
