EPSO lists several arrests recently

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office noted several arrests over the weekend as they executed warrants.

Friday

On Friday, April 4, a search warrant was executed in the Vidrine area after Detective Orvel Hale received information suggesting narcotic activity was occurring at 4309 Vidrine Road, according to Captain Keith Dupre, chief of detectives for the sheriff’s office.

As a result of the warrant, deputies located two rocks of alleged crack cocaine on Lee Alfred Wilson, 46, 1471 Chretian Road, Mamou; and suspected marijuana on Fletcher Wilson, 21, 4309 Vidrine Road, Vidrine. Wilson was charged with simple possession of crack cocaine. Wilson was charged with possession of marijuana.

In an unrelated matter, deputies responded to a child welfare call Friday afternoon and discovered suspected marijuana.

Deputies Shane Guillory and Gary Matte arrived at a residence to respond to a child welfare complaint. Inside the residence, deputies found a pipe, which was believed to be used in smoking marijuana, with suspected marijuana inside it.

Both subjects, William Matthew Guillory, 27, 1159 Fairway Drive, Ville Platte, and Jennifer Thompson Acosta, 27, 6068 Grand Prairie Road, Ville Platte, were booked into the parish jail on possession of marijuana charges. Both were released on $2,000 bonds each. Dupre said the child was taken by a family member.

Saturday

On Saturday, April 5, Detective Stanley Washington was contacted after the sheriff’s office received a complaint suggesting Lester Spriggins took his ex-wife at gunpoint from her home in St. Landry.

The woman was located and brought to her sister’s residence in Mamou by a citizen. She was taken to Savoy Medical Center, where she was treated and released. She had a broken ankle, and Detective Washington noticed bruises to her face, Dupre said.

Spriggins, 54, 1050 Olivier Lane, St. Landry, was located and booked into the parish jail on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a firearm and second-degree kidnapping.

During Washington’s investigation, he learned Spriggins had met a male subject at his ex-wife’s home, and he had hit the male subject with his gun after holding the gun on him. Spriggins was charged with simple battery and aggravated assault with a firearm in this matter.

Dupre said they were unsure how this matter would end, but fortunately the female was alright. He said Spriggins, who was booked into the parish jail, had a bond totaling $300,000.
