Fire and Police Civil Service Board handles personnel actions

The Ville Platte Fire and Police Civil Service Board handled several personnel items at its meeting Monday, June 16.
After a public hearing on whether to add the fire chief’s secretary to the civil service category, board members voted to make the position a civil service position. Fire Chief Ted Demoruelle told board members his secretary has worked two-and-a-half years for him, and her position is the only one not in the civil service category. He said she deserved the position and board members agreed.
The board agreed to accept the personnel action forms for the following:
•Derek Marcantel moved from permanent firefighter to probationary captain and then to permanent captain.
•Blake Perron moved from permanent firefighter to probationary captain and then to permanent captain.
•Brent Zackrie moved from provisional police officer to new provisional employee.
•Joseph Tate moved from provisional police officer to new provisional employee. A personnel action form for workman’s compensation was approved.
•Willis Thomas from provisional police officer to new provisional employee. Another action taken against Thomas was approving three days of his pay being docked for disciplinary reasons.
•Brody LaPoint’s workman’s compensation personnel action forms were approved and then his resignation was accepted by the board.
•Resignations for John Ortego and Crystal Devillier were accepted.
•Keyonna Tezeno’s pay was docked for three days for disciplinary reasons, and the board accepted the form.
In other business, the board:
•Called for a police officer’s exam for July 16, at 2 p.m. and approved the list of candidates for the test: Blade James Bonnette, Alicia Chevon Freeman, Terry Leroy Newsome Jr., Chateuse M. Richard-Holland, Keith Eric Ryder, Jaworski D. Toussaint, Willis Thomas and O’Brian C. Wilson.
•Set a firefighter/operator’s test for July 16, at 9:30 a.m. Members approved the following list to take the test: Daniel Eugene Albrecht, Allen Benjamin Benefield, Justin Keith Capdepon, Courtney Edwards, Robert K. Lafleur, Jerald O. Hartsell, Anthony M. Jacob and Christopher Soileau.
•Approved administering the fire captain’s test at 10:30 a.m. July 16. The list includes Jacob Demoruelle, James Johnson, Joel Manuel, Fabian Poullard and Michael Roberie.
•Approved the minutes of the April 18, meeting.
•Called for a police assistant chief’s test.
