Fire rating commissioner visits Ville Platte

The Ville Platte Fire Department and District Two firefighters and volunteers were hard at work this week, because the fire rating commissioner was in town Tuesday and Wednesday. The department spent hours with the commissioner going over paperwork, equipment, testing hydrants and conducting a water shuttle. The department conducted a water shuttle from Industrial Park to selected areas Tuesday night, April 1, for the commissioner. On Tuesday, April 8, the group will conduct its water shuttle in Chataignier on Church Street or Highway 163, beginning at approximately 6 p.m. Motorists are warned to be aware of fast moving emergency vehicles and to please give them the right of way. Please refrain from utilizing this road during the shuttle. The rating commissioner’s job is to determine whether this area declines, maintains or improves its present fire rating. This rating directly affects the cost of homeowners' insurance. These are scenes from Tuesday’s shuttle.
