Former pro-bowler will speak to men about making decisions Friday

Not often does a former pro-bowl football player come to Abbeville to talk about making the right decisions in life about family and God.

On Friday at 7 p.m., former Green Bay Packer Pro Bowler Ken Ellis will be at Abbeville High School to speak to men about making the correct decisions in life.

Ellis played for the Green Bay Packers in the early 1970s as a cornerback. He made the pro-bowl twice.

Also on hand at the AHS gym will be country and western singer Ken Holloway and comedian Scott Crosby.

The event, the first of its kind, is being put on by the Vermilion Pastors Prayer Group

Steve Delino, a pastor at Glad Tidings Church in Pecan Island, said the night will be a good experience for men, as well, as teen-age boys.

“Ken will challenge men to make a decision about Christian values and their relationship with God.”

Delino added that it will help men look inside of themselves to improve their relationship with their wives, children and with God.

There will be giveaways such as a 12 gauge Berretta shot gun, five autographed LSU footballs, and other sporting goods equipment.

On Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., Harvest Time Church will host “Making of Champions” seminar. Ellis will speak on improving man’s integrity.
